Manufacturing
SITAV carries out maintenance activities on rolling stock intended for regional passenger transport, high-speed passenger services, metro systems and freight.
The company performs scheduled maintenance at its Rottofreno (Piacenza) workshops, which cover a total area of approximately 70,000 m², including 24,000 m² of covered facilities. The plants are connected to one of Italy’s main railway lines (Bologna–Turin). The production departments feature 240 m-long working lines and a 66 m paint tunnel, complete with four self-propelled platforms and a drive-through track, allowing the painting of both single coaches and complete trainsets.
SITAV also carries out corrective, scheduled and preventive maintenance on the entire Italian high-speed FRECCIAROSSA fleet, with reference to rolling stock ETR 500, ETR 700 and ETR 1000, at the Trenitalia facilities in Milano Martesana and Napoli Gianturco, as well as at high-speed train transit stations such as Florence, Turin and Venice. Alongside maintenance activities on high-speed rolling stock, SITAV also performs interventions on passenger rolling stock and on freight locomotives.
In-house expertise enables SITAV to independently maintain and repair the following components:
- HVAC systems;
- access doors;
- converters and electrical machines;
- electronic boards;
- structural metalwork.
SITAV has developed a maintenance model that also includes the use of Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality to support decentralized activities and work sites where contact with the maintenance engineering offices is more difficult. In this context, rolling stock is monitored through a remote diagnostic monitoring system developed by SITAV, providing the train’s status in real time, complemented by the above-mentioned AI systems for predictive analysis and fault-finding support.
