Assembly
Thanks to its specialized and fully integrated engineering and industrial capabilities—ranging from structural metal fabrication to electromechanical assembly and painting—SITAV is able to meet demand for complete railway products for niche markets, such as small series of vehicles or shunting locomotives. The presence of an in-house engineering and design department ensures the expertise required to independently develop technologies and integrate subsystems up to the complete railway vehicle.
At the Rottofreno (Piacenza) rail workshop—covering a total area of approximately 70,000 m² and connected to the Turin–Bologna railway line—all the main phases of the process are carried out in-house, from raw materials to commissioning of the railway vehicle, including:
- manufacture of structural metalwork components, including frames and bogies;
- manufacture of low-, medium- and high-voltage electrical panels and systems;
- installation and integration of auxiliary and power electrical equipment;
- installation and integration of the HVAC system;
- installation and integration of the pneumatic and braking system;
- installation and integration of the fire protection system;
- installation and integration of doors;
- installation and integration of toilets;
- manufacture, installation and integration of power packs and power generation systems;
- installation and integration of couplers;
- painting of complete trainsets or single car bodies;
- testing
